Apple Overhauls Microsoft in US Market

The brilliant run of Apple (AAPL) in market is continuing in full stake, this time it is the Microsoft (MSFT) who has been overwhelmed by Apple to become the most valuable techno company in world. On Wednesday, for the first time, the total market capitalization of Apple goes up to 222.12 billion USD suppressing that of Microsoft‘s 219.18 billion USD at Wall Street Exchange. Eventually the chart is leaded by Exxon Mobil (XOM), with a market capitalization of 278.64 billion USD.

In the last decade the value of Apple’s stock has advanced in 1030% rate on contrary that of Microsoft has been more or less stationary at one place losing 18%. In exact marketing terms, last year Apple has sold almost 172 million smartphones compared to 360 million of PCs of Microsoft, but the sales rate of Apple is five time stiffer. The other significant fact is, despite of higher prices of its commodities Apple is able to catch the attention of the customers in larger extent than Microsoft.

However the actual evaluation of company’s total value is little bit tricky. According to present balance-sheet, Apple has 23 USD in cash with no debt. Whereas that of Microsoft 37 USD in cash and a debt of 6 USD. Therefore the resulting value of Apple’s enterprise becomes ~200 USD (223- 23) and for Microsoft this is ~189USD (220-37+6). But Apple’s method of calculation of total cash in hand is quite different, as they show 18USD of cash in hand as a long-term investment. Therefore resultant value of Apple enterprise farther decreases to 18 USD and becomes ~182USD. So the bottom-line is, if the market remains unchanged Apple will totally leave behind Microsoft within few more days.

MSN Got Makeover, More Simple Less Clutter

Microsoft has rolled out a preview version of redesigned MSN Portal page today. This new look is much cleaner and minimalist as compare to their older one, check yourself. MSN which is being visited by about 1/3 of internet audience every month has got a brand new look and after seeing it we can only say one thing Simplicity rules.

This new look of MSN has got a fully prominent integration of Bing, I am saying it because Microsoft has filled this new design up with 5 different sort of search boxes powered by Bing.

Microsoft has also made this new design more social media friendly by integrating Windows Live, Facebook and Twitter, it allows you to connect, check your timeline and update your status right from within that page.

More over this new look has more content and less ads which means less clutter more focus on the main thing.

My Verdict: On the whole I like this design as compare to its predecessor and this will surely appeal users aswell.

Access Microsoft Office Web App without Invitation

Microsoft’s technical team has been working hard for past few months and striving rigidly to provide out-class services to its customers then whether it’s about search engine or Operation system or their office utility.

As we all know that Microsoft is already working on its latest office suite version Microsoft Office 2010 but that’s not all what is cooking in Microsoft’s lab, they have also launched a web based office suite which allows you to use online functionality of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, though they have not made this Web Apps available to public so far and only those who have invitations can use it, for now.

However, today I am sharing a trick by using which you can get access to Microsoft Office Web Apps without invitation.

How to Access Microsoft Office Web App:

1. Visit Windows Live SkyDrive and login in there using your Windows Live ID or create one if you don’t have any.

2. If you are using SkyDrive Live for the first time then you will be asked to accept their “Terms of Services”.

3. Now once you’re signed in to your SkyDrive account click on My Documents/Documents folder.

4. Now click on “Add Files” button there which will take you to an upload page, now browse any Microsoft Word, PowerPoint or Excel file from your PC and upload it there.

5. After uploading completed you will see a message saying “Join our preview program to create, edit, view, and share Office documents online.”

6. Click on “Join our preview program” link and then click “Accept” button.

7. Now you will see a confirmation message thanking you for signing up for preview program.

8. You will also notice a “New” button now added at top menu.

9. So now clicking on new button will open a drop down menu from where you can choose to use/create Excel, Word, PowerPoint and OneNote documents using Microsoft Office Web Apps.

Note: This trick may not work for all users, make sure your account language is set to English.

Microsoft Launched Zune HD

Back in April this year I wrote two posts regarding Zune HD, first one was Zune HD Leaked Pictures while the another one was revealing some of the specifications of Zune HD. Earlier in May 2009 Microsoft announced its Touch screen media player Zune HD which not to mention, was a direct competition to Apple’s iPod touch.

Microsoft today has launched Zune HD which is available in two units 16GB for $219.99 available in Black color while 32GB unit costs $289.99 and available in Platinum.

Microsoft is also planning to launch a bunch of games in Zune Marketplace which users can play on Zune HD alongwith that some social networking apps are also being developed for Zune HD.

Microsoft Windows 7 System Requirements

Windows 7 RC is about to release publicly on May 5th, 2009 and will be available on official Windows 7 site for download. But by that time Microsoft has now released minimum system requirements details, which you must have to test Windows 7 RC.

The list of requirements you would need to run Windows 7 is not much high:

1GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1GB of RAM for 32-bit & 2GB of RAM for 64-bit processor
16GB of disk space for 32-bit or 20GB for 64-bit users
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Though this is the minimum requirements for Windows 7 but if you want to run Windows XP Mode, which lets you run Windows XP softwares then you’ll need 2GB RAM and 15GB of extra disk space.

After lots of rumors and torrent leak outs its time for some authentic and official news about Windows 7 RC.

Windows 7 has been in light since its beta release and we almost get daily news about its development in blogsphere, while since past few weeks we have witnessed some leaked builds of Windows 7 Release Candidate on torrent sites as well as there we some rumors about its official public release.

So, Windows 7 Team has now announced its release on its official team blog. Windows 7 RC is set to launch on April 30th for MSDN and TechNet subscribers while the public release will be out on May 5th. So, get yourself ready to test Windows 7 RC.

Zune HD Specifications Revealed

After the leaked images of Zune HD, everyone was waiting for its specifications and technical functionalities, so it reveled today by some unofficial sources.

After looking at the pictures, it can be undoubtedly say that Zune HD will give a tough competition to iPod.

Now if we talk about what Microsoft is cooking to feast Zune HD users, then it will be a Multitouch OLED screen player with 16:9 aspect ratio also would have the functionality of TV out (HDMI) and will have the ability of wireless syncing to computer. It will also feature a web browser, though more details about browser have not been revealed.

Also there are speculations of support for 3D XBOX games.

Zune HD will hit the market with two versions 16Gb model and 32Gb model by the September of 2009.

Leaked Zune HD Photos?

Some anonymous tipster at Engadget provided pictures of so called fourth-generation Zune MP3 player by Microsoft.

According to depicted images we can expect a touch-screen version of Zune which may have HD resolution screen display, could be named as “Zune HD”. If we look at these pictures then it shows like, was made for some promotional camping.

More on there have not been any news regarding its release date, specifications and features as well as its price details. So we have to wait until we get some more leaked or official news about this gadget.

Windows 7 Editions Announced

By few weeks ago, Windows 7 was creating a great hype when Microsoft launched its beta version which acclaimed by many as compare to Windows Vista.

Though, Microsoft has not yet revealed official release date of Windows 7, but they have announced various versions and editions of Windows 7.

On the whole Microsoft is planning to launch six different flavors for Windows 7 which will be used by different audiences. Such as:

Windows 7 Starter Edition
Windows 7 Home Basic Edition
Windows 7 Home Premium
Windows 7 Professional Edition
Windows 7 Enterprise Edition
Windows 7 Ultimate Edition

Amongst all these editions Microsoft is going to focus primarily on Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional.

Most of users are also looking forward for some official words from Microsoft on the prices of these Windows 7 versions.

9 Year Old Girl Becomes The Youngest Microsoft Certified Professional

Kids of today age is no more in toys and playing but they want to do something innovative and so what did by a 9 year old girl from Tamil Nadu, India named M. Lavinashree by passing Microsoft Certified Professional Exam.
She has broken record of being most Youngest Microsoft Certified, previously named to Arfa Karim, 10 year Girl from Pakistan.

This 4th Standard genius girl is making proud for her parents by her sharp memory. This is not the first time she named her any record, however also enrolled her name into Limca Book of World Record for reciting all 1,300 couplets of Tamil epic just in the age of 3 years. Do checkout this video.

Government of Tamil Nadu has also assured her parents to take care about her studies, as who knows she could be the next Bill Gates.

Regarding the transition from @hotmail.com to @live.com, a pretty straightforward process is given on the new Windows Live site at http://www.windowslive.com/freshstart. Although you can automatically migrate your Hotmail inbox using TrueSwitch, anything else tied to your Live ID such as your contacts, Space, Xbox Live Gamercard etc cannot be automatically moved across due to legal and privacy issues. You can manually move across your contacts by exporting and importing into Windows Live Messenger, but unfortunately that’s it. There’s some useful tips if you do want to migrate though.
