Google Docs Gets File Storage

Google Docs team announced on their blog today that they will be launching storage service to Google Docs over the course of next few weeks.

You will then be able to upload any kind of file upto 250MB in cloud and can access it from anywhere, so no need to email large files now. All the users initially will get 1GB of free storage space in their accounts; if you want then you can buy extra space for just $0.25 per GB/year (which is not that costly).

So now making backup will be more easy and handy for users and they don’t need to take USB drives with themselves, all they need is an internet connection and a Google Docs account.

This will surely gonna entice users, which they were craving for so long.

The much anticipated Open Source Google Chrome OS has been announced by Google today. Later they initially buzz about it in July this year and has released it Source Code officially today, which is available for download to everyone.

Basically Chrome OS is a lightweight operating system which is initially targeted to netbook users to provide them faster and simple experience. Google Chrome OS is planned to officially launch in the second half of 2010.

How to get Google Wave Invitations?

Google sent gifts to 100,000 users in the shape of Google Wave invitation two days back and since then those who haven’t receive invitations have been wandering here and there on internet and checking different sites in the hope of somehow getting Google Wave beta invitation.

Those who have got beta invitations can invite other 8 of their friends or colleagues to test this extraordinary service and from my previous experience I can say that some generous users are always there who are kind enough to share beta invitations online. So, enduring this I hope that in this case aswell, there will be some Google Wave best testers who would intended to share their invitations with others and so I am compiling this post for all in quest of invitation to give them a path where they can possibly find an invitation for Google Wave.

Ask for invitation from Google itself

Google Wave team is still accepting requests form the users who are anticipated to get an invitation and you too can request an invitation here though, this can take an unknown time period till you get an invitation in your inbox.

Leaked Screenshots Of Google Chrome OS

Since Google has announced its upcoming browser based OS back in July we have noticed lots of screenshots being claimed as leaked Google Chrome OS screenshots wandering on internet; however, no one exactly know about truth, either those screenshots have any credibility or they are just a fake one to distract users.

Today, I got mail from an anonymous guy who claimed to have some allegedly screenshots of upcoming Google Chrome OS and also did send me. Screenshots posted below are the ones sent by that guy, illustrates surely simple interface with a taskbar on top with a chrome logo on top left.

We can also see a slider like button on the middle left of screen which probably can be a program launcher or could be something else. In one of the screenshots below we can also witness the build no. of this OS which depicts to be 1.34.761

Gmail is really down!

Gmail is back now after 1.5 hours of outage but read below what actually happened.

You’re not alone because Gmail is actually down for 20-30 minutes (4 PM EST) now and people are receiving “502 Server Error” message. This downtime is also being faced by Google Apps Mail service users.

Gmail was also having some turbulence issue earlier today as well; thus, this downtime probably could be a reason of that issue.

Google has updated its official Gmail blog with a post regarding this downtime:

We know many of you are having trouble accessing Gmail right now — we are too, and we definitely feel your pain. We don’t usually post about minor issues here (the Apps status dashboard and the Gmail Help Center are usually where this kind of information goes). Because this is impacting so many of you, we wanted to let you know we’re currently looking into the issue and hope to have more info to share here shortly. If you have IMAP or POP set up already, you should be able to access your mail that way in the meantime. We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience and will get Gmail back up and running as soon as possible.

Google has also updated its twitter status:

UPDATE: IMAP/POP servers are working for some users including myself.

UPDATE: Some of users can access Gmail intermittently though the issue is still not yet resolved.

UPDATE: Gmail is back now though users still facing delay on sending mails (5:50 PM EST)

Translate Google Docs Documents in 42 Languages

Google Docs team has rolled out a really nifty feature today which allows you to convert your documents into 42 different languages. Translation is done by the Google Translate technology which usually used to translate webpages as well.

To convert your document in your desired language first open that document in Google Docs then go to Tools menu and hover on Translate document option and iture today which allows you to convert your t will dropdown whole list of 42 languages in which you can translate your document then choose your desired language there. It will open a new window with translated version of your document, from there you can choose whether you want to replace translated version with original one or you want to make a new copy of document.

Google Chrome gets Bookmark Synchronization

Few days back I told you about Google planning to add bookmark synchronization in upcoming Google Chrome Dev release and earlier today Tim Steele the Software Engineer of Google Chrome confirmed the availability of bookmark sync on official Chromium blog.

The latest dev release of Google Chrome 4.0.201.1 allows you to sync bookmarks using your Google account and it is using same XMPP technology which is also being used in Google Talk.

To enable bookmark sync feature you have to start Google Chrome with –enable-sync command line flag. Then click on Wrench icon on top left and then choose “Sync my bookmarks” from dropdown menu and it will ask your Google credentials, once you enter those details Google Chrome will automatically sync your bookmarks.

Google Chrome Themes Gallery Launched with 29 Different Themes

About 11 months ago I shared with you some great looking Google Chrome themes, now right after 11 months Google has officially launched theme gallery for Google Chrome which is having some 29 different kinds of themes.

There are themes for different tastes and flavors and you can choose one as per your choice, but to install these themes you need to have latest version of Google Chrome 3.0 Beta or Google Chrome 3.0 Developer Preview.

If talk about quality of themes then speaking truly I am not so much impress with any of these themes and I’ll still stick on with default classic one.

In case you didn’t like any theme after installing and want to revert to default one then click on Wrench icon on top right and choose Options from the menu, then goto Personal Stuff tab and at the bottom there click on “Reset to default theme” button.

Google Chrome to get Bookmark Synchronization

Google Chrome is working really hard since its launch to get a yearning market share and is really proving it self as a tough competitor to Firefox and Internet Explorer which are the two pioneers in the industry.

Google Chrome team has always been working to implement innovative technology and unique features to improve users browsing experience and in this regard an update has been made by Tim Steele who is an engineer for Google Chrome, when he posted about an upcoming feature at Chromium Dev. discussion board, this feature lets you sync your Google Chrome bookmarks in real-time using your Google account.

This feature will turn up in next development version of Google Chrome which is expected to launch with next two weeks.

No need mention that there are lots of plugins available for Firefox which makes bookmarks sync possible but this built-in functionality in Google Chrome will definitely let people think over again on their default browser choice.
