World’s biggest mobile manufacturer Nokia joins its hand with Yahoo, world largest market shareholder in online advertisement viewership, in New York to provide an enhanced telecommunication networks to the customers. In view of growing popularity of Apple’s iPhone, Google’s Nexus or Android it is obvious that the new joint venture of Nokia and Yahoo will face a tough challenge.
Both Nokia and yahoo will share their expertise and in this project -
- Nokia will exclusively provide a superior Yahoo Maps and its navigation system as an integrated part of Ovi Maps.
- In case of Yahoo the reveres will occur.
- In future, these two will also work on their ID federation; hence, any user with a particular user ID using Yahoo or Ovi could access the other online service in their same device.
The importance of this alliance is quite huge for both the companies, as its success will improve their respective market situations. The failure to sustain with the smartphone production and improvement efficiency of other competitor like Google, Motorola etc, proves to be a serious headache for Nokia. Despite of controlling nearly 40% of world mobile production, Nokia’s reputation in North America is not also quite healthy. Meanwhile, Yahoo is suffocating under severe threat of being undertaken by Microsoft. Therefore, Yahoo would help Nokia to extend their business in Web World and would promote development of desktop component that they lack so far. Reversely Yahoo, who has not so far given attention on Maps and other related software upgrading, will boost their chances with the help of advanced navigation services of Nokia.
Yahoo-Nokia collaborated services will start their journey in the second half of 2010 although they will be globally endorsed in 2011.
