I have earlier shared a guide on how to jailbreak/unlock your iPhone 3GS/3G/2G 3.1.2 firmware on Windows without redsn0w as iPhone Dev-team had not released latest redsn0w version by that time.
However, today beta version of redsn0w 0.9 out of the box which you can use to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 firmware using redsn0w on Windows and MAC OS X systems. This work with iPhone 3GS/3G/2G and iPod Touch 3G/2G.
How to Jailbreak iPhone 3G Firmware 3.1
1. First Update/Restore iPhone with Original 3.1.2 firmware using iTunes. (Original Firmware link provided below)
2. Now Download and Run redsn0w 0.9 for Windows or MAC (Beta)
3. Now browse original firmware and then redsn0w will verify the .ipsw file and will start patching it up.
4. Now check “Install Cydia” and ( “Unlock” If you have iPhone 2G)
5. Now make sure your iPhone is switched off and Plugged in to the computer, if yes the click Next.
6. Now follow the instruction carefully provided on the screen.
7. After that redsn0w will start jailbreaking process and will prompt the “Done” message once jailbreaking completed.
8. Once Jailbreaking your iPhone 3G to 3.1.2 Firmware, you can follow this guide to unlock your iPhone with ultrasn0w or unlock your iPhone (05.11.07 baseband) using blacksn0w and use with any SIM/Carrier.
