Change iPhone Default/Root SSH Password

There has been news being revolving around regarding ikee virus which attack Jailbroken iPhones via SSH vulnerability and this mainly cause if you haven’t change your default iPhone root password after enabling SSH.

So here is a quick guide for all of you which will help you changing your iPhone’s root password.

First of all this guide assumes that you have OpenSSH installed on your iPhone.

1. Now first connect your iPhone using your WiFI network.

2. Then open Putty or any other SSH client on your system, then connect to your iPhone using

Hostname: Your iPhone network IP address (can be found in Settings -> WiFi ->Click on arrow beside your network)
Username: root
Password: alpine

3. Once you are connected to your iPhone using SSH enter following command.

passwd

4. It will ask for a new password just type in your new password and then confirm it again.

That’s it you have successfully changed your iPhone root password and so does secured your iPhone from SSH hacking.
