There was a lot buzz being making by BlackRa1n which is a Jailbreaking tool by GeoHot which supports latest iPhone 3.1.2 firmware which Apple just released recently. After all those hype and wait GeoHot at last released BlackRa1n today which can Jailbreak firmware 3.1.2 on your iPhone/iPhone 3G/iPhone 3GS/iPod Touch 2G & 3G but unfortunately it is not hactivated or in other words it will not unlock your iPhone so only try this if you are using official iPhone with authorized carrier.
Like always first thing first:
WARNING: Don’t try to update if your iPhone is running on 3.0 or 3.0.1 firmware. Those with unlocked iPhone 3G and 3GS keep yourself away from it if you don’t want your iPhone to get locked permanently.
How to Jailbreak iPhone Firmware 3.1.2:
- Download BlackRa1n from official website here.
- Download and install iTunes 9 (if you haven’t already)
- Now connect your iPhone to iTunes and update 3.1.2 firmware (Click here for direct download links, if you want to restore)
- Once update complete Run BlackRa1n (make sure your device is connected)
- Once Opened click on “make it ra1n” button
- Your iPhone will now go into Recovery Mode and you will see GeoHot image on your iPhone instead of default recovery image.
- It will then start jailbreaking process and your device will reboot automatically once done.
- After reboot your iPhone is now jailbroken and you will notice BlackRa1n icon on your Home Screen.
- Now tap on that icon and install Cydia, Rock or Icy, whichever you want.
